The Santo Niño de Cebú ("Holy Child of Cebu") is a Roman Catholic figure of the Child Jesus highly similar to the Infant Jesus of Prague. Like the image's counterpart in Prague, the figure is clothed in expensive textile robes mostly donations from fervent devotees in the Philippines and abroad. The statue is the oldest Catholic relic in the Philippines and permanently housed since 1565 at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Cebu City, Cebu. [Reference: Wikipedia.org]
It seems like all of Cebu is so festive about this Sinulog event celebrated in honor of an image of what they call an Infant Jesus.
While some religious Catholics are faithful in their religious activities, still many others (the huge majority) are too preoccupied with the festive activities like discos, parties, tattoos, booze, rendezvous with friends and the like. They were not even aware of their church's doctrine on this little god; they don't really even care at all.
How did all of these start?
Every Cebuano knows that the image was given by a Spaniard to the first catholic converts in the Philippines. Years later, the Cebuanos revered the image as the Jesus himself. They mixed pagan practices and Catholic practices which resulted to seemingly immortal traditions; the Sinulog dance is an example.
Why would they portray Jesus as an infant? According to some priests, it is mainly because of Jesus' statement in Matthew 18:3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Now about the deception. God clearly commanded in Exodus 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.". What is Santo Niño? Who's image do you think it is? Jesus? Isn't Jesus in heaven? The making of the image is already a sin against a direct command of God (which is actually one of the ten commandments, but Catholics clearly omitted it in their doctrine).
Then God said further, Exodus 20:4 "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me".
Then the idolaters will say, "It's not to the image that we're bowing but to the one it represents."
God will answer them:
Isaiah 40:18
"With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him?"
Who has ever seen God that he may illustrate Him? No word is enough to describe Him. No form is enough to illustrate Him.
Actually, the image of God has already come. Colossians 1:15 "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation". Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God is worthy to be the image of God.
Who then is the image of the Son? Is it the bloody face of a brutally beaten bearded man in Veronica's towel? The Veronica scene may be seen in some movies portraying the death of Jesus, but it's not actually found in the Bible. Who then can describe the exact appearance of the earthly Jesus if the camera was only invented centuries after His death?
Or didn't they know that,
And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.2 Corinthians 3:18 (Amp)
So If an adult human image of Jesus is not enough to describe Him, how much less a child? Clearly their understanding on Jesus' statement in Mat. 18:3 is plainly physical. For Jesus entered the kingdom of heaven as a glorified being, mature and not a child anymore.
Then if Santo Niño really is Jesus, the Spaniards who introduced it to our forefathers should have taught love to our forefathers because the nature of Jesus is love (see 1Jn. 4:16). But what happened? The ones who ought to teach love oppressed our forefathers and produced violence instead. Jesus Christ was really right when He said "You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?" (Matthew 7:16).
What then are the fruits of the Spaniards' oppression? Did they produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit such as love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? (Gal. 5:22-23) Surely there is no love in killing even if it is for the country, nor joy in revolution, nor peace in war, nor forbearance in rage, and still many more to mention.
The real Jesus is not made up of wood, stones, metal or cloth. Rather He is made up of love. We became God's children because of His love and sacrifice for us.
Therefore, "Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man."Acts 17:29
Rather, this then is what we have to do: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." 1 John 4:7

A Man With No Emotions
I have hated pain ever since the beginning of my life. Since the time of my birth even up to the time when I gained understanding.
Like I wasn't alone! All people hate pain. Nobody wants to get hurt. It's man's nature to avoid pain. They wouldn't have studied medicine, researched for ways to improve health, get into diets and not to mention discover morphine and other pain relievers.
Well medicines are somehow effective in dealing with physical pain; however, there is no such medicine solid enough to cure it.
Well maybe there are some.
Emotional pain is more like a mental pain. Some people go to psychiatrists, some go for counseling, some just drown their hearts in liquor just to forget the pain, and still some go for the hard way by taking drugs.
Why am I writing this? It's because of a mistake I made-- something that almost cost my life.
My life has been lashed with storms of emotional pains, though it's not even comparable to some who has made pain there best friend for always being there. I've been rejected (Oh yeah, almost everyday), despised, ignored, slandered and many things, though like i said, it's not as harsh as what others have experienced.
Then came the disappointments. Even in my service to God, I still felt the emotional pains I used to feel when I was still in sin. The demons kept on reminding me of those things and it pisses me off. They disrupt my focus and even caught me in their traps. And because of that, there arose a fear inside me--a fear of giving and being rejected.
Time came that I had enough of those things. I prayed to God to give me wisdom to battle those demons. I prayed that my emotions would get swallowed up by reason and sound knowledge.
And God, as always, never failed to answer my prayers. He revealed a way. It was in my psychology class that God showed me a part of my brain that is responsible with emotional memory and a part that is responsible with rational thinking, logic and reasoning.
After that, I did something with my very own brain. I used my authority and tweaked it as though I was rearranging the registry of my computer's installed programs and saved files. I upgraded reason, logic and reasoning by taking some memory from emotional disk. And viola-- a new Tips, a close-to-an-android one.
For a brief period of time, I enjoyed freedom from emotional pain. Woooh! It feels good to be invulnerable, I thought to myself. Nobody can bring me down this time. State your case and I'll refute thee with mine wisdom and understanding. Bwahahahaha.
I even had an excuse: I KNOW what love is. I can contend with other persons who doesn't know love as much as I do. I can even contend with myself when I'm being tempted to have passion on someone. And yes, falling in love again was not in my choices nor my capabilities nor my tendencies anymore. I can speak about love. I can teach people about it. I can write a hundred books about it.
But ironically, I just can't. I haven't written any poems in weeks. I found it hard to write. I had the ideas but I just can't express them. I found it hard even to mend a broken heart like I used to do.
People around me were suffering. I used to be able to help them even when I was still in pain myself. I used to just listen to them. I couldn't speak enough because I still lack the words of advice. I failed to realize that the way my friends found comfort in me is through me and my listening ear, my warm smile, my brotherly tap, and of course my secret prayer for them.
It's as though my reservoir of love has gone dry. My knowledge puffed me up and I was breaking down with the lack of love. The cold was slowly embracing me that time.
I know love alright, but what good is it? I couldn't feel it's presence in me. Well I couldn't feel anything at all. I just KNOW things. But did I?
Good thing God loves me. He made me realize I forgot one thing about love:It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. And coincidentally, it's found at the seventh verse in the thirteenth chapter of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians.
Love always perseveres. If there is no pain, discouragement and obstacles, there would be no use for love to persevere.
Love is laying your life for others. Even Christ Himself suffered pain for laying His life for us, but He persevered. There is always pain in a living sacrifice.
Surely enough, it's no use to know what love is if it doesn't live in your heart. It's no use to speak about it if you don't listen to it.
I know love alright and if it is not in me, I'm as good as dead.

Lately I've been banging my head with a lot of technicalities. I have been doing some research work for the company I'm working for.
My job is not a joke. I had to write letters to big time politicians. Then what am I to them (in a worldly matter)? I'm just an obscure 18-year old barely out-of-school youth. How could I convince them? I don't know. That's why I have to study a lot of their profiles so that I can appropriate my letter to their cause.
However, the downside is that I started to spend my time lesser in more fulfilling tasks like increasing my knowledge in the Word of God, teaching others, nurturing souls, preaching the gospel and ministering of deliverance.
Yeah I consider my job as similar to Paul's tent-making in Thessalonica. It gives my a sense of dignity. Despite that, I have to budget my time--big-time. Oh man! I still have to go to school. After classes I log in for duty. I barely have time to sleep. I also have to help in my family's business in selling cooked food.
I cannot afford to have idle time, though sometimes I take time to be alone-- just me (and of course my best friend, the Holy Spirit) to think of worthwhile things and deep secrets. Thanks to that. I'm still alive.
I'm still alive, though my once compassionate heart has grown cold. Still God never failed to show me His grace everyday. He allowed me to make mistakes and showed me grace by making me stand up again.
Oh thank God for placing a need in my heart-- the need for grace.

Reckless Me
Proverbs 12:18
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Though the Spirit of the Lord was not reckless in saying that, it pierced my heart like a sword.
I wonder how many people I wounded with my reckless words. I wonder if most of them are still bleeding up to now. I wonder if they would still be my friends.
Yeah the truth hurts. No wonder the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Heb. 4:12)
It hurts you enough to heal you.

That's one weakness I still have to pray to God to teach me to overcome.

What is a search engine?
A web search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web and FTP servers. The search results are generally presented in a list of results and are often called hits. The information may consist of web pages, images, information and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in databases or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.

What is search engine optimization?
It is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) target paid listings. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.
Methods of search engine optimization
The most basic is getting indexed. We don't have to do anything because the webcrawlers from google or yahoo will just find us, but this will not ensure us of a high rank in the search engine. Some things must be done to improve our page rank.
1.editing its content and HTML and associated coding
- this both increases its relevance to specific keywords and removes barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
2.promoting a site
- this increases the number of backlinks, or inbound links. the more you click the link towards the site you are promoting, the more 'vote' it will have for the ranking in the search engine, especially google.
3.google webmaster

4.cross linking
-the same concept in promoting a site, but this involves more connections to other websites.
a) Reciprocal link
a mutual link between two objects, commonly between two websites to ensure mutual traffic. For example, Alice and Bob have websites. If Bob's website links to Alice's website, and Alice's website links to Bob's website, the websites are reciprocally linked. The more link exchanges we have in two or more sites, the more we will have higher rankings in search engines.
b) Resource linking
A resource link is a text link in the results pane that takes user to informational material such as Help, Web content, etc. If we put more resource links that lead to other relevant websites, then we can increase our search engine ranking. Maybe this is not an advisable idea because google may have done some measures to prevent spamming. Thus, we cannot significantly increase our rating.
c) Forum signature linking
If we enter into forums relative to ending cyber crime and use the link to our site as our signature in the forum, we can build up more backlinks unless there is no 'nofollow' attribute in the forum which instructs search engines not to increase the rating of the site.
d)Blog comments
Leaving a comment on a blog can result in a relevant do-follow link to the individual's website. Most of the time, however, leaving a comment on a blog turns into a no-follow link, which is almost useless in the eyes of search engines, such as Google and Yahoo! Search. On the other hand, most blog comments get clicked on by the readers of the blog if the comment is well-thought-out and pertains to the discussion of the other commenters and the post on the blog.
5.link farming
This is usually done by a group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. It is like a business conglomerate in the internet on which several websites connect to one another. The more connections, the higher the search engine rank. This may not be applicable to our site in its early stages because we still don't have enough links to other websites which links also to another, but in the later time, maybe we can grow more.
6.obtain a backlink from the web directory
A web directory specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. With a backlink to a web directory, we can have a link to other web sites and many opportunities to obtain connections. With more connections comes a higher page rank.

When you are laying out your site’s content you have to be sure that you are creating the content flow in such a way that the heading tags are based on prominence. Using relevant copy throughout your site will tell the robots (and visitors!) more effectively what to expect on the corresponding page. You do want to make sure that on pages you don’t want to rank in Google that you add a nofollow tag to ensure that the ranking flow of your site corresponds with your site’s topic and interests. No one is going to be searching Google to find out what your terms of service or privacy policy are.

The most basic is getting indexed. We don't have to do anything because the webcrawlers from google or yahoo will just find us, but this will not ensure us of a high rank in the search engine. Some things must be done to improve our page rank.
1.editing its content and HTML and associated coding
- this both increases its relevance to specific keywords and removes barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
2.promoting a site
- this increases the number of backlinks, or inbound links. the more you click the link towards the site you are promoting, the more 'vote' it will have for the ranking in the search engine, especially google.

4.cross linking
-the same concept in promoting a site, but this involves more connections to other websites.
a) Reciprocal link
a mutual link between two objects, commonly between two websites to ensure mutual traffic. For example, Alice and Bob have websites. If Bob's website links to Alice's website, and Alice's website links to Bob's website, the websites are reciprocally linked. The more link exchanges we have in two or more sites, the more we will have higher rankings in search engines.
b) Resource linking
A resource link is a text link in the results pane that takes user to informational material such as Help, Web content, etc. If we put more resource links that lead to other relevant websites, then we can increase our search engine ranking. Maybe this is not an advisable idea because google may have done some measures to prevent spamming. Thus, we cannot significantly increase our rating.
c) Forum signature linking
If we enter into forums relative to ending cyber crime and use the link to our site as our signature in the forum, we can build up more backlinks unless there is no 'nofollow' attribute in the forum which instructs search engines not to increase the rating of the site.
d)Blog comments
Leaving a comment on a blog can result in a relevant do-follow link to the individual's website. Most of the time, however, leaving a comment on a blog turns into a no-follow link, which is almost useless in the eyes of search engines, such as Google and Yahoo! Search. On the other hand, most blog comments get clicked on by the readers of the blog if the comment is well-thought-out and pertains to the discussion of the other commenters and the post on the blog.
5.link farming
This is usually done by a group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. It is like a business conglomerate in the internet on which several websites connect to one another. The more connections, the higher the search engine rank. This may not be applicable to our site in its early stages because we still don't have enough links to other websites which links also to another, but in the later time, maybe we can grow more.
6.obtain a backlink from the web directory
A web directory specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. With a backlink to a web directory, we can have a link to other web sites and many opportunities to obtain connections. With more connections comes a higher page rank.

My Graceful Exit
I'm not calling it suicide. I just know it would come.
Death is inevitable. It will surely come. But I know better than I used to. I know will not really die. I will just sleep--or so i thought.
Death is waking up from this perishable space-matter-time world. It is a transition from a wretched world to a better one-- far better one.
I know my time would come. But what can I do? I can't escape it. Maybe I just have to make the most out of it.
It's no use prolonging my stay as the world is so busy doing. A single meaningful death is better than million meaningless lives. It's better to live a short life full of love than to live a long one without it.
I'm thinking of a graceful exit... one that will bring more people to realisation of the secret things of God. Perhaps martyrdom. Perhaps a peaceful one. Whatever it will be, it's significance will be in the hands of God.

A Beggar
Many times I was approached by beggars of different ages, gender,and looks. But I don't give them anything, at least, not all the time. Many times I asked myself what to do when faced in such situations.
What would I give? How much? Should I run away? What would he do with the money I give him? Is he a part of a syndicate? Why don't he look for a job? Why should this man so dependent on people? Doesn't he have what it takes to feed himself?
Sometimes I find myself looking away, or pretending not to look at the poor person--or pretending to be one-- so I could spare the little pennies I have. Sometimes I give what I could spare just to ease up my conscience. Rarely I treat the beggar with a little food, perhaps a piece of bread and a drink--just to make sure the money would somehow go to somewhere worthwhile. And once, ONLY ONCE, I did what I thought was impossible for me to do: to share something I hold dear, the Word of God.
I wonder why there are still people like them even in the super-power countries. Good or bad government, there are still beggars. Even Jesus Himself said,"You will always have the poor among you..."
Maybe the problem is not really eradicating poverty. Only God Himself can make one man rich and another poor. Some uneducated people go rich. some college graduates end up in slums.
Maybe the problem is the absence of Christ in the hearts of men.. "...but you will not always have me." [Jn. 12:8]
I still do have compassion for my poor brethren. I know what it's like to be poor, to have nothing. I know deep in my heart that I want to help them.
What would Jesus do?
It was not written that he gave them money. Instead he gave them what they needed. He healed the sick, make a blind beggar see and many things.
Peter and John made a crippled beggar walk in using the name of Jesus.
I wish that I have that kind of faith to say “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”. I haven't done that too. I still don't have the boldness.
I have clothes, money, and most importantly, a deep and experiential knowledge of Christ, but I learned that we are no better than beggars. We have nothing. Everyday we 'beg' God for forgiveness of sins. We are very reliant on God. We cannot even work for our own righteousness. Still God graciously forgives us every time we confess our sins to Him.
I can only give what I have.
